The 2020 Residency in Reykjavik, the UNESCO City of Literature, will be dedicated to children's literature and linked to the Mýrin International Festival of Children's Literature, which will be held in the Icelandic capital in October. The organizers pay for the writer's travel, provide him with apartments for living and a scholarship of 800 euros.
The residence accepts applications from authors of children's works of art from the UNESCO Cities of Literature, including Ulyanovsk. The organizers will select one author who will be invited to work at the residence from 1 to 31 October 2020.
The author must use this month in Reykjavik for literary work and have an interest in the city and country, its culture and literature. In addition to working on their project, the author must also write at least one short text about Reykjavik.
Knowledge of English is a must.
The author will live in the beautiful Gröndal‘s House in the heart of the old town. It is the former home of the writer, illustrator and scientist Benedikt Gröndal (1826-1907). It was renovated and opened as a cultural center and residence in 2017.
The guest will also be introduced to the local literary community and will be able to take part in the Mýrin International Children's Literature Festival in Reykjavik.
Applications are accepted until March 1, 2020.
