20.05.2022

Recently, the final of the 19th International Contest of Contemporary Russian Drama "Characters" was held at the Moscow Theater "School of Modern Play". The play by Ulyanovsk playwright Gala Uzryutova entered the top ten, was included in the collection "The Best Plays of 2021" and presented in the form of two sketches on the stage of the theater.
368 plays from 18 countries from playwrights aged 13-85 took part in the competition organized by the theater "School of Modern Play". According to the results of the competition, the top ten plays on the stage of the theater in the format of sketches were presented by graduate directors of the workshop of Joseph Reichelgauz (GITIS). The monoplay by Gala Uzryutova Dummerchen was chosen by two directors at once - Ivan Kuznetsov and Alexander Bitarov, each of whom presented his own vision of a surrealistic drama about personal responsibility, freedom and choice.
Earlier, the play Dummerchen became the winner in the experimental nomination of the international drama competition "Badenweiler 2016", the winner of the competition of the European Theater Translation Network 2018. The play was published in the German magazine "Berlin. Shores" (Germany) and the magazine Literratura. In 2019, the author received a scholarship from the Goethe-Institut's Culture in Motion Program: the Dummerchen monoplay was presented for the first time in German at the Atelier Theater in Stuttgart. Previously, the play was also presented at the Badenweiler International Festival in Moscow and Minsk.
Recall that at the beginning of 2022, at the Berlin Film Festival, the world premiere of the film “Country Sasha”, filmed by Vega Film based on the book of the same name by Gala Uzryutova (director Yulia Trofimova), took place at the Berlin Film Festival.
