INTERNATIONAL WRITERS RESIDENCE IN REYKJAVIK
08.04.2022

The UNESCO City of Literature Reykjavik has chosen its next residency author, who will reside at Gröndal's House in October 2022 for a month. Ronnie Scott, a writer and senior lecturer in creative writing at the RMIT University in Melbourne, became the winner.

Ronnie Scott's novel The Adversary (2020) was nominated for the Queensland Literary Award and the Australian Literary Society Gold Medal. He is the author of two books of non-fiction for the National Gallery of Victoria and a special edition of Penguin, and researcher on The Folio: A History of Australian Comics. During his literary residency, he will be working on a new novel about public art and the oddities of social history.

The Directorate of the program "Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature" heartily congratulates Ronnie Scott on this victory, because it's not so easy to beat 105 competitors! We also wish Ronnie the best of luck and look forward to the release of his new novel.
Recall that the UNESCO City of Literature Reykjavik announced a call for applications for participation in the international literary residence on the following conditions: candidates had to use this month in Reykjavik for literary work and show interest in getting to know Reykjavik and Iceland, their culture and literature. For its part, the city of literature provides the following conditions: free accommodation in the Gröndal's House residence in the center of Reykjavik, close to cultural sites and the main attractions of the city, as well as an amount of 800 euros. In addition, Reykjavík Literature Center staff will assist the guest in connecting with the local literary community and other relevant parties involved in literary work. The presentation of literary works will also be possible, whether it be a public event, a presentation in the media or through other channels, in addition, the guest must be able and willing to take part in the literary life of the city.

We will be happy to receive news about Ronnie Scott's literary residency and share it with you.
