On September 8 in Ulyanovsk “This is Pushkin!”: “Pugachev in Simbirsk: history and myths” creative tours were presented. The event became part of City Day, which is celebrated from September 8 to 10
The basis of the city tour is the historical context of Pushkin’s trip to Simbirsk to research the Pugachev uprising. Participants visited historical sights of Ulyanovsk associated with Alexander Pushkin and Emelyan Pugachev and learned rare facts and myths from the history of Simbirsk. At the end of the tour, the participants met the rebel Pugachev, played by a professional actor.
In the second part of the event, Ulyanovsk residents participated in an interesting conversation - “From Petrusha to Peter: through the pages of “The Captain’s Daughter” by A.S. Pushkin”, held at the I. A. Goncharov Historical and Memorial Center-Museum. Tatyana Bulatova, laureate of the International Literary Prize named after I. A. Goncharov, candidate of philological sciences, writer, development director of the literary agency and school “Floberium”, discussed the modern significance of the story “The Captain’s Daughter” with the townspeople.
“Today my eighth-graders from school №83 and I went on a wonderful “This is Pushkin!” city tour. The format of the creative tour and presentation was interesting. We walked around the city, learned a lot about our beloved Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk, and dispelled our own ideas about where Pugachev was when he was brought to Simbirsk. The children were happy with what they saw. Thank you for organizing such an event in our city!” - said Tatyana Vasilyevna, a participant.
“The tour was impressive! I had no idea that Simbirsk was so closely connected with the name of Alexander Pushkin. I would like to thank the guides for an interesting tour through the city center. The conversation with the writer Tatyana Bulatova was exceptional - it revealed so many new aspects of Pushkin’s well-known story; now I look at this text differently.”, - said Daria, a participant of the tour
The project was created with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The creators of the project are the “Center for Development and Support of Creative Projects “Simbirsk” Autonomous Non-profit Organization, Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Directorate and the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum.
