April 15 at 15.00 on the International Day of Culture in the Ceremonial Hall of the Palace of the Book, the closing ceremony of the All-Russian exhibition-fair - the XIX regional exhibition-competition "Simbirsk Book-2021" was held, the results were summed up and the winners were awarded.
The regional exhibition-competition of book and electronic products of publishing houses and publishing organizations of the Ulyanovsk region "Simbirskaya kniga" was first organized in 2004 on the initiative of the Ulyanovsk regional scientific library named after V.I. Lenin and with the support of the Ministry of art and cultural policy of the Ulyanovsk region.
The purpose of the exhibition-competition is to promote the development of book publishing in the Ulyanovsk region, to strengthen information and creative cooperation between publishers, printers, authors and libraries, to draw attention to the problems of publishing local history literature and completing library collections.
Every year on April days, the regional scientific library exhibits and evaluates the results of the work of publishers, printers, publishing departments of scientific institutions and educational institutions, public organizations and individual authors - all whose lives and professional activities are connected with books and reading. The book festival, which Simbirsk Book has become over the years, shows how interesting ideas are embodied in worthy publications and serve the noble cause of upbringing, enlightenment and education of the inhabitants of the region.
Leading publishing houses and publishing organizations of the region took part in this year’s competition - JSC Regional Printing House Printing Dvor, LLC Publishing House Corporation of Promotion Technologies, OGAU Publishing House Ulyanovsk Pravda, federal universities of the region, archives, public organizations - regional branches of the Union of Writers, the Union of Artists, the Union of local historians, the Russian Geographical Society. We welcome the participation of libraries, museums, municipalities, and national publishers.
The main nomination "Book of the Year" was given to "The Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk Naval Encyclopedia" of the Federal Research and Production Center of the Joint-Stock Company "Scientific and Production Association "Mars".
The event also presented awards to laureates in 13 nominations. Valentin Skurlov was awarded an honorary diploma for a series of books that reveal the heritage of the region - "Carl Faberge in the documents of the Russian State Historical Archive" and "Antique and Art Market of St. Petersburg".
