Russian writer, musician and folklorist Irina Bogatyreva will represent our country in Leeuwarden UNESCO City of Literature in the Netherlands, as the part of the "Happiness Delayed" project.

The source of inspiration for the creation of the project was the fundamental work of the Italian Renaissance by Giovanni Boccaccio "Decameron", surprisingly similar to the current situation of the world epidemic. As more than 600 years ago, humanity has an acute question of life and its way of life: "feast during the plague" or postpone everything for later, when the best time comes that can allow us to live a bright life without risks?

It was on this topic that hundreds of writers from all over the world were invited to speculate, so that all caring people could look together into the future, in which the world has become big and open again. The works of the authors will be publicly presented by local readers in the gardens and other venues of Leeuwarden in the period from May 7 to August 14, 2022, among them a play in one act by Irina Bogatyreva under the same name "Happiness Delayed". The organizers of the project will translate Irina's play into Dutch and Frisian languages.

The overall result of the project will be the release of a collection of all works, which will allow the authors to leave their mark in the history of world literature and become the founders of a dialogue with the future generation.
