The main goal of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is to create conditions for the development of cooperation between cities from different countries that consider the creative sector as the main priority for the sustainable development of the territory, a resource for involving residents in cultural life and the development of culture in general.

By joining the network, cities commit to share experiences, develop partnerships that promote creativity and cultural areas, actively participate in cultural life and integrate culture into urban development plans.

To date, this international program brings together 116 cities from 54 countries of the world, while Ulyanovsk is the only city that represents Russia.

In addition to the literary trend, there are cities on the Web that have chosen the spheres of cinema, gastronomy, media art, design, folk art and music as a vector of their cultural development.

The UNESCO Creative Network is a valued partner of UNESCO, not only as a platform for reflecting the role of creativity as a lever for sustainable development, but also as a fertile ground for action and innovation, in particular the implementation of the development agenda.

In order to join the Network, the city must submit an application - the conditions and terms of admission are published on the Organization's website.
