«Ульяновск- литературный город ЮНЕСКО» стал частью международного кулинарного проекта "Хлеб творческих городов ЮНЕСКО"

Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature – with Elena Ezhova, restaurateur, and Denis Kashin, brand chef - is a part of “Breads of the Creative Cities” International Gastronomy Project

The project was launched by Tucson (USA) UNESCO City of Gastronomy and the Creative Knowledge Foundation. The goal of the project is to create a book with recipes from different countries. Ulyanovsk decided to share the recipe for ‘kolobok’ (‘kolobyatka’). As you remember, Simbirsk is considered the birthplace of the ‘kolobok’. According to Vladimir Dahl’s dictionary, the residents of our city used the word ‘kolobyatka’, which meant ‘the last dough from the kneading bowl’ – sounds similar to the story of the ‘kolobok’ from a fairy tale, doesn’t it?

Residents of about 100 UNESCO cities will learn the step-by-step recipe for the “kolobok”. The book will be available in paper and online. Everyone interested, no matter where they live, will have a chance to get acquainted with the biography of the chef from Ulyanovsk and read about the restaurant where this fabulous dish is served.

Representatives of the Turkish delegation from the city of Kahramanmaraş were the first to try the “kolobyatka”, having visited Ulyanovsk at the invitation of the Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Directorate to the “Arcadia” Festival. The brand chef and management presented the dish. Turkish colleagues were delighted with the treat - they tried such a dish for the first time and admired the gastronomic gift, and also talked with Denis Kashin and his team.

Литературный разговор «От Петруши до Петра: по страницам «Капитанской дочки» А.С.Пушкина» с писательницей Татьяной Булатовой

Did you know that Pyotr Grinev, the main character of Pushkin’s story “The Captain’s Daughter”, was from the Simbirsk province? This and more is what the participants of the “Pugachev in Simbirsk: history and myths” creative city tour (project “This is Pushkin!”) learned.

As a part of this tour, an interesting literary conversation took place with Tatyana Bulatova, winner of the International Literary Prize named after I. A. Goncharov, candidate of philological sciences, writer, development director of the literary agency and Floberium School. The topic of the conversation was “From Petrusha to Peter: through the pages of A.S. Pushkin’s “The Captain’s Daughter.”

Кадеты Ульяновского гвардейского суворовского военного училища посетили экскурсию "Ай да Пушкин!"

Cadets of the Ulyanovsk Guards Suvorov Military School took a trip to Simbirsk of the 18th and 19th centuries and found out how the great poet Alexander Pushkin was connected with our city.

On September 24, Suvorov students attended two creative excursions “This is Pushkin!” dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Pushkin’s visit to Simbirsk and gastronomic maps of our city.

Children traveled to the world of literature, history and gastronomy. Future officers learned how strong the friendship was between Alexander Pushkin and the Simbirsk poet Nikolai Yazykov, and learned about the legends related to the great poet’s visit to Simbirsk. Of great interest were the stories about what dishes Pushkin loved, and what dishes the Simbirians surprised him with. And, of course, the children visited the monument to the Generalissimo, the great commander Alexander Suvorov, who also visited Simbirsk and it was he who accompanied the captured rebel Pugachev.

Traveling through the historical sights of Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk has become an important part of the patriotic education of cadets. Many of them came from other cities to study in Ulyanovsk, and therefore their acquaintance with the historical center of the city was unforgettable!

Почему возникла легенда, что Емельяна Пугачева держали в заточении в подвале драмтеатра? А где он был на самом деле?

Why does the legend say that Emelyan Pugachev was kept captive in the basement of a drama theater? Where was he really?
Today, September 20, the participants of the “This is Pushkin!” city tour dedicated to Emelyan Pugachev and Alexander Pushkin - students of Lyceum №38 - learned about these and other interesting historical facts and myths.

The project is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the great poet’s stay in Simbirsk. What does Pugachev have to do with it? Alexander Sergeevich arrived here in search of valuable information about the Pugachev’s rebellion. As a result of the trip, he created two works - "The History of Pugachev" and the story "The Captain's Daughter".

What did the Simbirsk residents treat Alexander Pushkin to 190 years ago? Which of the Simbirians was the great poet friends with? And what are the legends  about his stay in  our city?

Participants of the “This is Pushkin!” creative city tour learned about this and much more on September 20. Students of the "Dar" Simbirsk gymnasium named after Alexander Nevsky took part in the event.

The children enjoyed the tour through the historical part of Ulyanovsk, learned who Alexander Sergeevich was friends with and with whom he was related. On September 8 in Ulyanovsk “This is Pushkin!”: “Pugachev in Simbirsk: history and myths” creative tours were presented.  The event became part of City Day, which is celebrated from September 8 to 10

The basis of the city tour is the historical context of Pushkin’s trip to Simbirsk to research the Pugachev uprising. Participants visited historical sights of Ulyanovsk associated with Alexander Pushkin and Emelyan Pugachev and learned rare facts and myths from the history of Simbirsk. At the end of the tour, the participants met the rebel Pugachev, played by a professional actor.

In the second part of the event, Ulyanovsk residents participated in an interesting conversation - “From Petrusha to Peter: through the pages of “The Captain’s Daughter” by A.S. Pushkin”, held at the I. A. Goncharov Historical and Memorial Center-Museum. Tatyana Bulatova, laureate of the International Literary Prize named after I. A. Goncharov, candidate of philological sciences, writer, development director of the literary agency and school “Floberium”, discussed the modern significance of the story “The Captain’s Daughter” with the townspeople.

“Today my eighth-graders from school  №83 and I went on a wonderful “This is Pushkin!” city tour.  The format of the creative tour and presentation was interesting. We walked around the city, learned a lot about our beloved Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk, and dispelled our own ideas about where Pugachev was when he was brought to Simbirsk. The children were happy with what they saw. Thank you for organizing such an event in our city!” -  said Tatyana Vasilyevna, a participant.

“The tour was impressive! I had no idea that Simbirsk was so closely connected with the name of Alexander Pushkin. I would like to thank the guides for an interesting tour through the city center. The conversation with the writer Tatyana Bulatova was exceptional - it revealed so many new aspects of Pushkin’s well-known story; now I look at this text differently.”, - said Daria, a participant of the tour
