08.04.2021

April 14 at the Palace of Books in Ulyanovsk will host a presentation of the book "Simbirsk Glinka. The diaries of Elena Glinka: a documentary confession, compiled by local historian Sergei Petrov. The event will be attended by a descendant of a noble family, lawyer, professor of Moscow State University, widower of the heroic Elizaveta Petrovna Glinka (Doctor Lisa) Gleb Glebovich Glinka.

The compiler of the presented book is a local historian, candidate of philosophical sciences Sergey Borisovich Petrov. The work was published by the USU Publishing Center.

The book tells about the Simbirsk branch of the famous noble family of Glinka, starting with a participant in the Patriotic War of 1812, Sergei Nikolaevich Glinka (1776–1847). The reader will learn about the natives of Simbirsk: the prominent Orthodox philosopher and writer Alexander Sergeevich Glinka (Volzhsky) (1878–1940), about his daughter Elena, son Gleb and grandson Viktor - participants in the Great Patriotic War, about the difficult, sometimes tragic fate of members of this family.

The book publishes for the first time the recently found unique diaries of Elena Glinka, the daughter of A. S. Glinka (Volzhsky). The last two notebooks of the twenty-nine she once wrote describe in detail the last months of her father's life and some other representatives of the Glinka family. In addition, the diaries are a reliable historical source reflecting Elena's observations, her thoughts and experiences in the difficult pre-war period and during the Great Patriotic War.

Date and time: April 14 at 16.00 in the Ceremonial Hall of the Book Palace.
