
From August 24 to August 29, 2021, the Leo Tolstoy Museum-Estate and the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Prize will hold the 1st School of Literary Criticism in Yasnaya Polyana. For will be selected 20 young literary critics and writers. Participation in the school is free, participants will also be compensated for the cost of accommodation, meals and will be provided with transport from Moscow to Yasnaya Polyana and back. Well-known writers and critics will conduct practical work with the participants.
To participate in the School, you must submit an application before July 4. Results will be announced no later than July 16th. The organizers of the school will pay the main attention to the quality of the texts sent and the motivation letter. Participation in the school is free for selected authors, the organizers of the school - the museum-estate of L. N. Tolstoy and Samsung - also compensate for the cost of accommodation, meals and provide transport from Moscow to Yasnaya Polyana and back. Other travel expenses are covered by participants..
The School of Literary Criticism in Yasnaya Polyana involves face-to-face interaction between young authors and well-known critics and the discussion of the following questions: How can a critical article be no less interesting than the work being criticized? What should be done to take criticism out of the service area of the literary process and raise it to the level of art? How to maintain a balance of intuition and rationality in an attempt to find, discover and guess the new talent of modern literature?
The practical work will be carried out by: members of the jury of the Yasnaya Polyana Prize: Rector of the Literary Institute Alexei Varlamov and writer Vladislav Otroshenko; Prize experts: writer Lev Danilkin; literary critic; Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Journalism, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Natalia Lomykina, as well as literary critic, historian and literary theorist, deputy chief editor of the Znamya magazine Natalya Ivanova.
School events will be held in compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements.
