The City as a Writer's Workplace: Call for Applications 2020
11.03.2020

The Directorate of the program "Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature" announced the acceptance of applications for participation in the international project "The City as a Writer's Workplace". Writers, poets, playwrights and other authors, as well as translators and artists from UNESCO Cities of Literature are invited to describe a place in the city where they like to work on texts.

- Our idea is to collect photographs and short texts from the authors, telling about the places in the city where they like to work on their texts, explained the directorate of the program "Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature". - It is very interesting to explore how the working conditions of authors are changing today: some work at home at a desk or while taking a bath, others sketch poems directly on their smartphones, others love to write at the airport, on the train or while riding a bike around the city.

As a result of the project, an international online exhibition will be prepared with photographs of the workplaces of authors from UNESCO Cities of Literature. The online exhibition will be posted on the Ulyanovsk – UNESCO City of Literature website. The project will help to better understand the writer's relationship with the city, allow writers to learn more about each other's work, and introduce readers to local authors.

How to take part in the project?
