A novelty by Mikhail Kamaleev "Music in books" has been released
27.01.2020

A book by Ulyanovsk writer Mikhail Kamaleev has been published. The new edition is a text version of two lectures of the "Music in Books" project. One of them is devoted to the musical content of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita", and the second - to the relationship of Viktor Pelevin with various rock musicians. At the moment, the book is available in electronic form in various online bookstores (for a symbolic price of 20 rubles). In the near future, a paper edition of the work will be printed, and part of the edition will be transferred to Ulyanovsk libraries and other cultural institutions.

The lecture project "Music in Books" appeared in Ulyanovsk in 2018. Its meaning and content are easily guessed in the title itself - the lectures talk about the relationship, mutual influence of literature and music, about the relationship between writers and musicians.

The project's lectures were successfully held in Ulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad at various venues: libraries, creative spaces, coffee shops and bars. The lecture "Pelevin, rock and roll and the unknown" in November 2019 became part of the "Night of the Arts" event in Ulyanovsk.

Mikhail Kamaleev, writer, author of lectures "Music in books":

- The publication of this book for me is a kind of summing up the results of the project. I'm not going to stop, already in the spring of this year the premiere of a new lecture topic "Music in Books" is planned, but in general this year there is a desire to present three new topics, if possible. Of course, the book version differs from the "live" presentation in themes, because at the lectures I turn on the music, show the video, and communicate with the audience. In the book, for obvious reasons, this is difficult to do. Nevertheless, I hope that the printed version of the lectures will help more people to get acquainted with the musical content of well-known works, to open them from a new perspective.

Daria Rykova, journalist, editor of the publication "Music in Books":

- I was lucky, I am familiar with the project "Music in books" from the very beginning of its existence. He immediately interested me, because I love both good literature and high-quality music. The reflection of the musical tastes and passions of writers makes you take a fresh look at books that are familiar at first glance. Mikhail managed to do serious analytical work and put the research into an accessible and interesting form. The book, as well as a series of lectures, are designed for a wide range of readers and listeners. I hope that "Music in Books" in printed format will find its new connoisseurs.
