New project “This is Pushkin!”: creative literary city tours in Ulyanovsk around the places Alexander Pushkin visited 190 years ago.
The project won the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives competition (PFCI).
“This is Pushkin!” is an attempt to explore the modern urban environment and create alternative tourist routes. They are based on historical facts about Pushkin’s stay in Simbirsk in 1833, unfortunately scattered and incomplete, and modern legends and myths about this journey.
“Our goal was to unite those who under normal circumstances rarely work together in one project - historians, professional tour guides, restaurateurs, representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, writers and philologists, actors, officials. The project involves 25 performers and 10 participating organizations. Thanks to the project, two exclusive tourist walking routes will be created: “Gastronomic” and “Pugachevsky”. This is an innovation in the regional tourism and two new events in the Pushkin Card program. As a result of the project, the outreach among the youth audience – Pushkin Card holders - will be 5 thousand people. This is a significant result, both educational and economic,” say the project organizers.
Information about the city tours will be posted on the Arcadia Festival telegram channel https://t.me/arkadiafest and the Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature group on the social network: https://vk.com/ulcreat.mukcbs.orgru
The presentation of the first city tour will take place on August 25 at the Arcadia Arts Festival.
The “This is Pushkin!” project is implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Directorate, Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum, Center for Development and Support of Creative Projects "Simbirsk" Autonomous Non-profit Organization.
