Registration for participation in the creative laboratory "Codes of the Lower Terrace" is open

The event will be held from 19 to 22 August as part of the Festival of German Culture "Days of Germany in Ulyanovsk". Artists, photographers, journalists, architects, sociologists, filmmakers, designers, writers and representatives of other creative profiles are invited to take part in the project. Registration is open until August 14 inclusive.

The Lower Terrace Codes Creative Lab is a hands-on educational program for creative citizens, during which participants, together with a curator from Berlin, will explore the historical, cultural, social and other features of the aforementioned microdistrict. With the help of various creative formats, the participants will capture the present, project the future of the Lower Terrace and try to identify some cultural codes that will indicate promising directions for the development of the House of Culture. 1st of May.

The laboratory will be curated by Marcela Villanueva, art project manager from Berlin, the UNESCO City of Design. Marcela is originally from Argentina and in recent years has been actively developing Latin American art in Berlin and in Germany in general. The non-profit community organization that Marcela works for connects artists across disciplines with exhibition spaces, collectors and the public at large, as well as those wishing to discover and explore Latin American art. In addition, she arranges exhibitions of contemporary art and studies various cultural phenomena in society.

Artists, photographers, journalists, architects, sociologists, filmmakers, designers, writers and representatives of other creative profiles from Ulyanovsk are invited to participate in the four-day laboratory. The working languages ​​of the laboratory are Russian and English (an interpreter will work).

Participation in the project is free, but requires prior registration via the link.
Registration is open until August 14 inclusive.
All selected participants will receive a detailed lab schedule, as well as all additional information about the goals and formats of the meetings.

The laboratory will be held at the House of Culture named after May 1, which became the central venue for the German Culture Festival "Days of Germany in Ulyanovsk" in 2018.

Following the results of the laboratory, the organizers and participants will arrange a public discussion about the results of their creative research and, if there is a sufficient amount of visual materials, they will create a small exposition in the May 1 Palace of Culture.
The time and place of the public event will be announced later, but for now, everyone can leave a request so that the organizers can directly send information about the meeting to those who are interested.

The organizers of the Festival "Days of Germany in Ulyanovsk" are the "Ulyanovsk - Capital of Culture" Foundation and the Directorate of the "Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature" program with the support of the Government of the Ulyanovsk Region and the Administration of the city of Ulyanovsk. The festival is funded by the German Embassy in Russia as part of the Days of Germany in Russian Regions project.
