«One of the key trajectories of work of the Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Directorate is international cooperation. To strengthen international partnerships, we collaborate with leading universities of Ulyanovsk. Foreign students, through participation in international, interregional and city events, become part of the social life of Ulyanovsk as a city of UCCN.» - highlighted Elena Toporkova, Head of the Culture and Entertainment Department of Administration of Ulyanovsk.

Youth represented the counties of UNESCO, BRICS, CIS. Students from India, Egypt, China, Yemen, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Russia performed an excerpt from the ‘May There Always Be Sunshine’ in Russian and English on the stage of the ‘Gubernatorskiy’ Palace of Culture while waving their countries flags.  Together with the students, the participants of the event were welcomed by Elena Cherkas, Head of the Ulyanovsk UNESCO City of Literature Directorate. Elena Cherkas emphasized the importance of such events that strengthen friendship between peoples.

Before the start of the concert, UNESCO City of Literature hosted an open microphone event in front of ‘Gubernatorsky’, where foreigners showed off their creative skills.

While wearing their national costumes, the participants sang and read poetry in Russian, English, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi and Sanskrit, performed Indian national dances. Their performances inspired many in the audience - they danced and sang along with the students!

Let us remind you that more than 3,500 students from other countries study in Ulyanovsk and participate in the public life of the city and region.
