We invite you to a workshop for young poets and writers

As part of the festival "Days of Germany" in Ulyanovsk, a workshop for young writers will be held, which will be held by the writer from Heidelberg Frank Barsh and the Ulyanovsk playwright Gala Uzryutova.

The four-hour workshop will unfold on August 18 at the Lower Terrace in the May 1 Palace of Culture, where participants, together with curators, will explore the microdistrict, and after an inspiring walk and communication with local residents, they will create sketches of stories, notes and poems.

“The main idea of ​​the workshop is to try to reflect the atmosphere of this region of Ulyanovsk with the help of literature. This is a very interesting process, when what the authors see is transformed in their head into fabulous, perhaps sad or joyful texts. Together with the curators, we want to try a new creative level of rethinking,” comment the organizers of the festival.

Young poets and writers from 18 to 35 are invited to participate. Participation in the event is free, but pre-registration is required via the link. Applications are accepted until August 13th.

- Frank Barsch, writer from Heidelberg, a UNESCO city of literature, lecturer in literary writing and didactics of writing at the universities of Mannheim, Heidelberg and Landau Kobletz, literary and theater critic in various media in Germany.

- Gala Uzryutova, playwright, poet and writer from Ulyanovsk, the UNESCO City of Literature, author of the book of poems “I turned around, and there is a forest”, the book “Country Sasha”, the author of the concept that considers poetry as an animal instinct. Laureate of the N.N. Blagova, laureate of the European Network of Theater Translation Competition 2018, winner of the Dmitry Gorchev Literary Prize 2017, finalist of the Russian-Italian Literary Prize "Rainbow" (2015, 2017, 2018) ”, long lister of the Debut Prize (2006, 2007). Plays became winners, shortlists were included in the competitions "Badenweiler", "Characters", "Lubimovka", etc. Poems were translated into German and English, prose - into Italian.

All literary samples created within the framework of the workshop will be presented at the opening of the Festival “Days of Germany in Ulyanovsk” on August 19, at 19:00 before the May 1 Palace of Culture.
