On April 28, a meeting was held with students - linguists and two invited experts in the field of music from the creative city of Durban (South Africa)

As part of the International Creative Industries Art Residence, the directorate of the Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature program held a meeting with linguist students and two invited music experts from the creative city of Durban, which is located in South Africa.

The event was attended by second-year students in the direction of "Linguistics, Translation and Translation Studies".

The invited guests shared interesting facts about the cultural life of South Africa with the students of the Faculty of Linguistics, Intercultural Relations and Professional Communication of UlSU.

The experts talked about the development of the city of Durban after it became a UNESCO Creative City. They emphasized the importance and necessity of participation in such projects.

Students practiced English together with the guests, asking interesting questions about music, creativity and life in general.

A beautiful African performer presented the students with a song in the Zula language and asked them to join in the sound together. The guests told the story of the people who speak the Zula language. The Zul language is spoken in central Nigeria, in 15 villages located on the territory of the state of Bauchi, in the regions of Bauchi and Toro. As of 2014, at least 4,000 people speak Zul.

The event was also attended by the teaching staff of USU represented by Deputy. director of the IMO Mironova O.A., head. Department of English Linguistics and Translation Sokolova I.N., as well as the director of the training center "IT English" Salnikova M.V.

Natalya Dashuk, the head of the Ulyanovsk – UNESCO City of Literature program, told the students about the impact of the international status granted to the city in 2015 on the cultural education of the city of Ulyanovsk.

ВThe meeting was sincere and became a continuation of the joint work of the Ulyanovsk State University and the Directorate of the program "Ulyanovsk - UNESCO City of Literature" to create a translation center. Foreign experts said that they are looking forward to the texts of Ulyanovsk writers in order to start active work.
