Prague – UNESCO City of Literature launches a new creative two-month residency for writers and translators for 2023. There are 6 residences available, each lasting 2 months.
General conditions of participation for all foreign writers and translators of the residency:
Start: June 22, 2022
Application form submission deadline: August 31, 2022 at 12:00 CET.
Accommodation and travel expenses are covered by the host organization, residents will also receive a scholarship of 15,000 CZK (about 600 euros) per month.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
Completed online application;
Extract from the published text (in Czech or English) or a sample of the text translated into Czech (2 pages).
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Cultural interest in the place;
- Basic knowledge of English;
- At least one published literary work (not a private edition) or two dramas broadcast or published on the radio, or one staged or published theater play, or at least one translated work by a Czech author;
- Willingness to participate in local literary life (author's readings, meetings with students, talks, events organized by the host institution or related to the cultural events of the city);
- Work on essays during your stay at the residence;
- An author who has already received a scholarship once cannot reapply.
The resident undertakes that during the stay or no later than 2 months from its end, he will provide the Municipal Library in Prague with a text inspired by the stay, which will be used to promote the Prague residences. The Municipal Library in Prague will enter into a license agreement with a resident to use the text in both electronic and printed versions.
