The Translation Publishing Trust of Scotland is now accepting entries for the Scottish Writers' Translation Competition
01.07.2022

An opportunity that may interest publishers! The Translation Publishing Trust of Scotland has begun accepting applications for the 2022 translation competition. The Foundation supports publishers outside the UK by paying royalties on translations of Scottish writers.
The first stage of the 2022/23 application submission will last until August 22. More information and application form here.
Information about the translation publishing fund of Scotland:
This fund is administered by Publishing Scotland on behalf of Creative Scotland, based in Edinburgh. In 2004, Edinburgh became the world's first UNESCO City of Literature.
The purpose of the fund is to support publishers based outside the United Kingdom by paying royalties for the translation of Scottish writers. Funding will be offered in the form of a grant and is intended to cover translation costs only.
Priority will be given to the translation of contemporary literature, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children's books and graphic novels. Evaluation criteria will also include the merits of the work to be translated, the publisher's financial needs, the publisher's and translator's track record, and a proposed marketing plan. The Panel of Experts will meet twice a year to evaluate applications.
The jury consists of: Catalina Watt (Literature Officer, Creative Scotland), Rebecca de Wald (Literature Program Producer, Cove Park), Annie Rutherford (Writer, Translator and StAnza Program Coordinator), Dr. Scott Lyall (Teacher of Modern and Scottish Languages, Napier University of Edinburgh), Marion Sinclair (CEO), Lucy Feather (Participant Services Manager, Publishing House Scotland).

For more information about the writers, books, and publishers who have received funding, see the grants page on the foundation's website.
